knocking noise from tranny

i drive 03 evo 8 with 5 speed tranny
i noticed that my tranny is making a knocking noise when idling with a/c compressor on and goes away when i depressed the clutch pedal.
that tranny is already been overhauled from shepherd
does anybody else had similar problems?

Normal every Evo I have ever been in does this. Not sure if its related to the TOB or Input shaft bearing but its 100% normal no worries

Waz up guys, i'm a "03" evo owner as well. And i have the same code p0300. I've been searching everywhere and checked my car for boost leak and new spark plugs and tuned and switched coils but that didnt help at all. I finally went to mitsu, the master tech he's a real cool dude, i told him about the code and he rapidly said, " is it a 03?" and I said yes. Then he showed me and i was able to see wit my own eyes. Aite fellas, put on your seat belts, "It is the imputshaft and the 5th gear on the tranny" He showed me that the 5th gear wasnt flushed and tight enough. note: he had just done the work on a 03 thats why he was able to show me. The 5th gear wears and has to much play and it damages the imputshaft where the 5th gear sits. This causes a vibration when on 5th gear and sumtimes on 4th which the knock sensors will pick up and pulls the timing back to protect the so engine. He said the dealerships flashes wont work like some of you had to find out the hard way and no tune will help either like i had to find out. If they erase the knock sensor monitoring, then when something do happens inside your engine, you wont be able to tell because the knock sensors aint working how they should be. So once again the po300 code for random/cylinder misfire the problem is the imputshaft and 5th gear. Don't just repalce the 5th gear. Replace the imputshaft as well because of all the play/vibration of the 5th gear definetly damaged the imputshaft. Aite fellas, goodluck. and hope this helps

+1 for the TOB. they are pretty rattly and as the clutch wears more and more and the fork has more play, the TOB gets louder.
