Switching BOV's

So I did a boost leak test on my car as recommended because my boost would not go over 24psi even on Q16 and as I expected I have a leak so It's time to change my TurboSmart BOV, also it flutters so bad my friends thinks the car is about to die. I did search for about week trying to get info.

Has anyone switched from one of these BOV's to another, the reason I ask is because If you have one and haven't tried another you may or may not be able to compare them:

-Forge RS (Some like it, some say its flutters a lot)
-APS twin vent (Mellon had a good review about it)
-Synapse BOV (New BOV people seem to like it so far)
-Tial 50mm or Q (I read you need standalone, but some do not use it, a lot of high boost cars have them)
-Oh i don't want to get the metal OEM one or the HKS SSQ.

anyone care to comment, really need a new one.

I can't stress enough how fantastic the APS twin vent is, order up and forget about your bov troubles.

I would highly rec. one of the Tial units. I run a Tial Q on my stock ECU/Peakboost 35R setup, and have yet to have ANY issues doing so.

I hear you man I knew you liked this one from your thread, how is the low rpm flutter on this thing, some, a lot, none.

what about the sard

Knguyen228 Sep 29, 2008 11:23 AM

go with the aps twin vent. I have the GFB with the twin vent and I like it. Hold 30psi with no problems.

30psi to redline with the 30R...I've let it zing up to 40psi one time

Knguyen228 Sep 29, 2008 11:33 AM

Mine holds 30psi with no problem, I can't really boost any more then that cause I still have a stock turbo.

Yea for sure anything past that or even at that point the little turbo runs out of steam. That's why i'm moving up in the months to come.:D

The adjustment screw in the end of the APS can leak, but you just have to remove it and apply teflon tape to it before you reinstall it. Leak gone.

APS and Tial is #1 on my list and of course OEM evo 9 one, (If running stock turbo) also dont forget good MBC, like hallman pro, had both things so far for 50k never had a problem with holding boost.
