Car won't start in winter
I brought my evo in March of last year. In the warmer months it starts fine even though I only drive it a few times a week. In the winter if I don't start it every other day the battery dies. The car is stock minus a auto start and alarm that the previous owner put on. I tried a new battery and took it to the dealership and said not to leave the alarm armed, they said that may be the problem. I tried that as well, but two days later the car never starts again:mad: . I only have 17K miles on the car, and the last time I took it to the dealer, they did a "diagnostic electrical check" and nothing came up. I doubt its the starter. The starter doesn't even make a sound like attempting to turn over and start. Does anyone else have this problem?

If you dont drive it everyday, then put a trickle charger on it when you park it..

Thanks alot, just ordered it. Neat little gadget

Something is draining the battery. I let my 107k VIII sit for days at a time and it doesn't hesitate to fire at all.
I also have a aftermarket 2-way pager alarm |
A trickle charger is a great thing to have if it sits for a week or so at one time.

You can test the electrical system to see if there is a "load" or something that is draining your battery while your car is off.
Do you have access to a VAT-45 or equivalent? |
I use the BatteryMINDER product, and it works great with my optima red top. I leave it in the garage in the car all winter with no problems.

Same thing happened to my buddy's evo. The electrical system kept draining the battery. His wiring harness had a bunch of cut up wires and a wire running underneath the fusebox was grounding. He previously bought it used and the retard who had it before him cut up the harness bad.

Yea thanks guys originally the aftermarket instrument cluster blew out the previous owner put in. I checked all fuses but that was not the problem. I took it to the stealership 300 bucks later they removed it. Out of my pocket of course because it was a aftermarket mod. The alarm is a bit of a nag if you leave it armed. It also has a turbo timer but I don't think thats relevant. And auto start is a problem if you leave it in first plus e-brake. But all in all I love the car even though I'm tempted to buy a C-5 every once in a while. To gsr check all the fuses and any power draining mods. Good luck man
