Radiator fans are dead, anyone used the Mishimoto fan shrouds yet?

My Evo 8 has been overheating so bad that I couldn't drive more than 15 miles before i had to pull over and wait for it to cool down. Made it home today and checked everything out in the garage, my stock fans have not been activating at all and are completely shot.

At this point I'm thinking of upgrading the radiator and fans all together. I ran across the mishimoto radiator and hose kit for my car at a decent price, but I saw on their website they have bolt on fan shroud kits that come with slim fans for the Evo. Anyone use these yet?

I'm thinkin about gettin it all at once so I can get the full package and not have to worry about replacing this stuff in the future. I know plenty of people who vouch for the mishimoto radiator and hoses so im not worried about that but has anyone had personal experience using them?

any feedback would be helpful, thanks guys

They'd probably be the same price as a new fan from the dealer (I'm guessing) so I don't see why not.....:dunno:

There is a recall on the Fan controller on 03-04 evos' what evo do you have?
It free...

You might need it for that new fan too. Unless you wire it to a switch or something.

can u force the electric fan on with the AC atleast? also i'd narrow down to see wat is really the point of failure as aftermarket fans often use the ecu also as the controller....

the mishimotor kit you chose does not come w/ a controller, which means you need to wire it to your stock setup/ecu or get an aftermarket controller w/ probe or water temp sensor....

as i said you need to know your point of failure before you start throwing money around

That shroud will negatively affect cooling because air won't flow through the shroud, it'll just hit the back of the shroud.

If both your fans aren't working it's a problem with the controller or an electrical problem, not the fans themselves. I'd bring it to Mitsu I believe there was a recall for the fan controller.

Thanks a lot for the info guys, I've got an 03 Evo 8 and replaced the fan controller already. I saw pictures of the fan shroud installed on my buddies evo last night, it looks really good and he said its been working really well so I went ahead and ordered a new rad, hoses, and fan shroud.

I dont see how the fan shroud would negatively affect cooling considering the fans will be working so the air wont be blocked in any way. Either way the mishimoto shroud is polished aluminum and just looks a lot cleaner than oem or plastic so I'm going with it. It's a lot smaller too, its only about 2 inches thick total including the fans so i save some room and get a better looking engine bay.

Anyway I picked up the mishimoto rad, hoses, and fan shroud for about 50 bucks more than just the koyo radiator wouldve cost me alone. Cant beat it, plus i got the hoses in blue to match the car.

I'll keep you posted on the install, thanks guys!
