HKS 727's without cam gears?
So i'm waist deep in an unscheduled 2.3 build. It's back at the machine shop. While i wait i found a good deal on some HKS 272's. I'm goign to throw them in but i'm not sure if my budget can handle cam gears in time for the dyno. I know back in the day cam gears were considered absolutely manditory for aftermarket cams.
What's the thinking now? I'm not looking for MAX POWER! right away. Once I get an ARMS i'll re-tune with cam gears but that's probably a year out. I would like to drop in the cams before my first tune. |
Although I have cam gears with my HKS 272's they are set at 0,0
You would change the settings if you wanted to move the power band up or down in the revs |
Those 727's must give a hell of a lope.
-4/-1 Is a good setting for midrange power curve with more emphasis towards the top. |
damn 727 cams ? must be engineer by Boeing. lol

Haha nice... sorry 272's obviously. So i can make some power without the gears. That's good to know.

dont try insatlling 727 they will not fit and have not been tested yet , to show real gains , and 727 can not be tuned to idle even on motec or aem , stay away from those 727

Don't need gears... just something else to potentially fail... Been on OE gears since probably 04' with those cams, and some of the fastest and quickest Evos in the world run OE gears.

Had HKS 272s for almost 2 years with stock gears and love them.
