Where's the woosh sound? (Greddy RS BOV)
I installed a used Greddy RS BOV today and it seems to sound and operate just like my stock. Where is the "woosh" sound? is there an adjustment i should tweak? it came from a stock evo, to a stock evo, so i would assume it is set right..
I feel I should mention there is something wrong with my car too.. I can only boost to about 12 PSI before it sputters and misses (before and after installation) .. hopefully I'll be able to get that fixed this weekend. do i need to push this BOV to 18 PSI before I hear the "woosh" or should a few LBS be enough? thanks in advance! {thumbup} |

put your flamesuit on if you are running the stock ecu you should not be running a vta bov |
lol

You aren't going to hear a "woosh" sound if you a recirculating the BOV back into the intake and you have the stock intake box. The sound is being muffled by the box. With with being said don't vent the BOV because that will make the car run worse then it already is.
Sounds like you have a boost leak somewhere too. I feel sorry for you in what's about to happen in this thread. |
it sounds like youre running on wg boost and you probably have a pretty major boost leak. you should def try to locate that boost leak and fix it before you worry about the rice factor of you bov. if its a vta then it should make the sound when your car is running properly. if it is a recirc then it wont be that audible with out an open element filter and proper boost. i tried to be nice but you will def get flamed for posting this!

doh!.. thanks GPTourer. gotta learn somehow. nice avatar, seems appropriate, lol.

I believe you can purchase it at your local pepboys.

check your pipes for a boost leak first, like soon, as in now

the BOV is VTA or recirc.. i have it installed as recirc. i might get flamed, but at least i'll learn something in the process  |
common thing to do is do a boost leak test...
the throttle body shaft seals and bov are common leaks... |

Then get more sophisticated with your search |
oops, double post.

does this sound like a boost leak?

thanks randomevo.

if youre only hitting 12 psi i would start with the ic pipes. especially lower passenger side hose. check all the hose clamps and condition of hoses for ones that need to be replaced.
also were yo boosting only 12 psi before you installed the bov? if not there your leak right there. |
