How does LSA effect the powerband?
 

I was wondering how the LSA on a set of cams will effect the power output, curve etc?

For example, a grind that is 272, with 10.8/10.2 lift(HKS 272's) with a lsa of 110 compared to the same duration and lift but with a lsa of 108deg?

The LSA directly affects the overlap - the period at the end of the exh stroke and the beginning of the int stroke when both intake and exhaust valves are open at the same time. Tightening the LSA increases overlap, and widening it vice versa.

Tightening the LSA will give a lumpier idle, and will make the torque curve shorter and peakier. If one takes a mild cam like the HKS 272 and tightens the LSA to ~106, the effect is to quicken transient response and boost midrange power and torque.

That's pretty much what I expected, just wanted to make sure. I'm in the hunt for cams and a set of comp 272's came up. They are the same lift as the hks 272's but with 108lsa instead of 110, which is perfect for what I want.
