BR, 2.4, high hp/high rpm build?

Alright, I'm in the process of building a new offering and want to see if anyone is interested in giving it a shot.

I'm putting together a full 2.4 liter engine that I want to see make big power and fairly high RPM.

I'm going to use a 100mm billet crankshaft, the 2.4 liter block, steel rods and forged pistons.

The goal is to build this engine capable of 900+ hp and 9,000 rpm. I believe using the billet crank and quality parts inside it is possible.

This should produce some great torque and be a hell of an option for street oriented builds who want the most low/mid range they can get.

Anyone out there interested in a build like this? I'd like to get an idea and if someone with a healthy build already wants to bring us a car to install it in, tune it I'd be willing to work out a deal for a test mule.

No way!!!

Sounds very intriguing. Hmmm, do I really want to be a test mule??? GL with the build and goals David.

LOL

my 2.4/MIVEC block will be ready for pickup on Friday.

I figure a 2.4 powered by an fpRed should be one of the best street combos out there.

And of course I can still claim "It's stock" just some boltons!

if your 2.3 already revs up to 8500 from what I have read, what other advantages will the 2.4 offer over your 2.3? and would the power advantage to price ratio make it worth it?

+1 to that

Probably because, using a 4G64 block, there is room for using 156, or even 159 mm rods, forcing a little on pistons' design, and the better rod ratio should allow that kind of rpm, i suppose.....

2.4L have a better rod angle than 2.3L. also like "giangi" mentioned above. 2.4L long rod will make great power, aster spool, more torque, and more low end to mid end without sacrificing the high end power. The only problem is that having the head gasket seal correctly. But I'm sure Buschur know what he's doing. {thumbup}

BR messing with the stock ECU and now working on a 2.4L street car. NICE!!!

The idea of having a 2.4L reving to 9k is good, but i doubt a T3 turbo can take it there

I would love to see this because now that I have a solid motor for my Evo, I am looking to put something on a stand and work on it over time. I was wanting to start with a 4G64 block too. This would be a great reference thread for what I was planning on doing..

There's a few of us who have done this. Mine is destroked a little, but same general principle. So far I'm extremely pleased with the results.

im interested in seeing Results, as i have talked to David about this option, and yes an FP Red can take it to 9k

This sounds absolutely awesome! I'm interested in being the guinea pig if you are looking for someone.

If successful will you offer these engines as a package. Including all needed to upgrade from the 4G63 block. As far as I remember through reading. You need 4G64 timing components, Water Pump, and custom Head Gasket.

Anyone else chime in??

I'd certainly give you my 03 as a mule. Hell I'll drive it out there and take a bus back.
