Why does Fidanza hate MR's?

I finally found a reasonably priced clutch that is still really strong and good quality but I looked at the fine print and it said wont work with MR. I looked at all of the Fidanza products for EVO's and allmost all say except MR. It sux. Why are you doing this to me Fidanza? I would have bought your clutch. Here is some of what I found:

Fidanza 2.1 Performance Clutch Kit

06 Mitsubishi Evolution IX 2.0L T Except MR

Part number: FID-361341/1

This is not really a question and I probably should not have even made this thread. It was just surprising to me and I was wondering why a company would exclude the MR when making their products.

Ummm they have dedicated 6 speed clutch kits http://www.maperformance.com/evo-vii...-kits-fidanza/ the cam gears are the same obviously and the flywheel works for both 5 and 6 speed :) The 6 speed kits use a higher clamp load pressure plate etc...

There are fewer of them which equals less profit.

The MR version is just a different part but they make both.

Thanks for the info. These clutches look great but the ones for MR's are expensive. They even cost more than the Works clutch kit I was looking at. The Fidanza 5-speed clutch kits are cheaper than the 6-speed ones, but I guess thats what I get for having the extra gear. HaHaHa, I was sold on getting a Fidanza clutch because it was strong and the price was good, but now I guess I will keep looking around. I will prob end where I started and get that Works clutch.

The 5 speed 3.2 is a 4 puck and specific to the 5 speed. The MR kits are 6 puck and specific to the 6 speed only.{thumbup}

Stupid Question:

Why are the pressure plates on the 6-speed a higher clamp load than the 5? I thought that the combination of clamp load and friction material was correlated with engine tq...

I am going to pitch in whatever knowledge I have from owning 3 Evos and having had a MR and having had two clutches done. The difference that I saw when I had my Evo MR was the lenght of the springs on the disc. The MR had longer springs allowing for a softer and spongier feel on the clutch engagement.

Other than that I have no idea why Fidanza would make such disclaimer.
