Seafoam'd my Evo

I have always done this to every vehicle i have ever owned, even my 4-wheeler. I used the vac hose on the brake booster (thats how ive always done it) and you CAN do it by yourself if you dont drown it. My evo didnt blow out a lot of smoke did but still a good amount. Also put it in the oil, changing it tonight so ill see what comes out

what would be purpose of this if you dont mind me asking?

black_beauty Mar 4, 2010 07:16 AM

there was only one decent thread when i searched about putting it in my car, and it was confusing.

Evoardo IX Mar 4, 2010 07:22 AM

so you did it without knowing what it is for? Could you please tell us what is the purpose of doing this? thanks
Ed

I know what sea foam is for just had never put it in anything with a turbo

SEEnoEVO Mar 4, 2010 07:25 AM

It cleans out all the carbon buildup in the engine. Seafoam has been used for years on cars and it usually works very well especially on high mileage motors.

Seafoam'd my evo about 5k ago...brake booster, oil crankcase...changed oil next day.

you are killing your motor. its basically 100% solvent. putting it in the gas is fine, but putting it in the oil and sucking it down a vacuum hose is a horrible idea. its a recipe for bore wash and a rod knock.

I don't know if what you are saying is true or not, but I don't think the bearings would like this stuff very much.

JonahEVO Mar 4, 2010 07:43 AM

So it is better to pour it in the gas tank then?

I have alway used it with no problems, to each his own. Ive had it in 4 different vehicles and my Banshee. Always seemed to clean things up for me {thumbup} didnt mean anything by it Evoardo, cool name btw. Reminds me of the Top Gear episode haha

yes. then it cleans your injectors, doesnt get in the oil and still cleans all the carbon off the valves and combustion chamber.
