Education on PTE Turbo's

I'm looking into going bigger then my current FP Red set up and need to be educated on their turbos. I tried to look them up on their web page but could not find the information I was looking for. What type of power does each turbo make and what is the spool time on a 2.0 or 2.1L? I'm looking for something like the HTA 3582 or 3586.

6567's

6265's

6262's

6162's

I'm also looking to change from the HTA3586 & was considering going with a 6262 V-Band on a 2.4L. Any info on this as well would be much appriciated.

Billet 6262 and 6265 are the closest match to the 35r HTA's. I have not run the 6265 on anything but it would be laggier than the 6262 but have more potential up top maybe 15 whp. I would also not change from a 3586HTA to a 6262 there are no gains to be had unless your turbo is blown as it is a cheaper turbo with close to the same output. You could always get a vband housing for your HTA if that is all you want.

I blew the turbo, it couldn't handle the anti-lag of the Motec M800 (or at least thats what FP said) LOL

are PTE turbos "heavier duty" than the FP turbos

I don't think any of these turbos are designed to handle anti-lag. 6262 is a downgrade in turbo compared to a HTA86 power wise. 3586 proven to make 800+ haven't seen a 6262 do that yet

800+ on what???

For cars running crazy anti lag i would suggest Comp Turbo.

For those who want to run anti-lag, I suggest a using a turbo one can afford to replace ... often.

What kind of anti-lag are you talking about?

Launch control to build boost on the line that just consists of ignition retard and fuel/spark cut? Or full blown drop throttle anti-lag with diverter valve used for rally and other forms of racing?

I've used fairly aggressive launch control style "anti-lag" on numerous turbos (including Garrett GT BB CHRAs) and never had an issue. I only used it at the track, for launch control though and didn't drive around town bouncing off it trying to impress others. I had better results with just a very mild anti-lag though of 5-10 degrees of retard and a higher launch RPM.

Don't the PTE turbos still use the Garrett center cartridge?? I'm pretty sure they do, so I don't see a PTE turbo handling the anti-lag any better than the FP turbo.

Full blown rally style anti-lag

I used it for drag racing and "spirited driving" up winding mountain roads

I have to admit, sometime to have it bang in someones ear on the highway

According to Nick at Buschur, they've run anti-lag on Bad Bish with the PTE635 turbo

Ted B Apr 13, 2010 06:55 AM

But what type of 'anti-lag' is that, and how much actual running time does it see?

There is anti-lag, and there is launch control that is casually, erroneously referred to as "anti-lag". IF the 'anti-lag' to which you refer actually dumps fuel into the exhaust (?), any turbo subjected to that will fail in time. If what you have is actually a launch control feature, the cause for the turbo's demise may be something else, which raises different concerns.
