Best 600-800WHP Turbo Kit for under $5000

Who's do you think is Best?? Looking for 600-800WHP on a Street/Strip setup with a 2.0-2.2L that I can rev to 9k

AMS
AWD Motorsports
Buschur
ETS
Full Race
Shearer

I currently have ETS V-band with the 6262, Buschur FS635 and Shearer HTA3586 in my top three.

Full Race has always been my favorite, just from looking at welds(they have a bender bot that does all their welding) but I haven't ever run one. Those will all give you good performance, it's the turbo design more than the manifolds, so I'd go with anyone who runs a forced performance turbo, and whoever's the cheapest.

I have experience first hand with AMS and Buschur Racing. Both kits are well thought out and make serious power. There are some differences that can account for price such as on the AMS kits and the custom silicon water lines and such. It's really all personal preference on what you like the most and budget. All are priced fairly close so take your pick.

You are correct, Buschur Racing uses a Shearer Manifold.

that evo2 that broke the standing mile record used a borg warner s400. just for kicks, I looked up the turbo to see how much they were running. Found em for 500$ up to 1200. I guess just the fact that its not a kit makes it so cheap??

I would definitly go with the shearer hotside parts such as manifold, o2, downpipe. I have them and the quality is amazing.

I would piece your own "kit" together though rather than just buy a "complete" one. You will save money and be able to get exactly what you.

want.

Discounts are usually had when buying a complete kit. Generally if you piece together a kit, you pay more because you are buying individual parts, and it can be a pain.

I suggest buying a complete kit from whomever you choose, and customize it to your liking.

buschur tubular HTA86.. they use shearers manifold.

Sharkbite2000 Apr 17, 2010 06:46 PM

So let me see your looking for 600 on pump gas and 800 on race gas ?

I love the AMS stuff, but I really don't like there turbo kit's because I'm limited to my choices on turbo set-up. But I think they are working on changing that with there new turbo kit.

Your question is too vague. Are your power figures based on super unleaded, E-85, C16, etc.? What type of dyno are you trying to realize these numbers on? $5k will get you the parts that can produce that power, but won't get you the supporting mods you will need to sustain it. With that type of power you will definitely need a fully built engine, stout clutch, etc. With that said, I would pursue the BR or AWD forward facing turbo kit with a 6262 or 6265. Good luck!

buschur/AWD/Shearer are the best, period!

ETS has always caught my eye, seem to have better prices also.
