Should I switch to S3's?
This isnt so much a "help convince me" thread moreso than it is, technically, is it doable type question? I have S2's right now, its a BR long rod 2.4 (10:1 cr) with an FP Black and a BR stage 3 head. I want to do the S3's because theyll help the motor breathe a little better especially up top.4 and I feel like theyll push me an additional 25-40whp past where I am now. My biggest concern is piston to valve clearance.
Anyone have any input? |
i belive youll be fine.. have them in my 2.1 br motor ill let you know how they are in like two weeks...

Are you a 9? I would run the custom Cams John Bradly had gsc make.
I would not throw any big cam in without checking ptv clearance though. Fathouse |
Call greg@gsc. Something custom may be best.

The custom cams we have done are hard to get billets for. Greg and I have talked about running S3s in my car to see what the difference is. However we just havent had a chance to get that testing done yet. The lift on the S3 is 11.7 both sides so its a little less than the crazy ones I am running. I think this would be a more accessible easier to obtain route. It would require going to a specific valvespring for the combination though. Either the GSC spring with Ti retainer or a set of Kiggly Valvesprings. Aaron |

My specs are not being disclosed publicly other than they are bigger than an S2 and have 12mm of lift. As we can get them they are 685 a set. The GSC S3 cams are these specs-
S3 Specs . 6009S3 ADV Duration Duration @ 1mm Peak Lift CenterLine Intake 280.........................................238 11.70mm 130 Exhaust 280......................................238 11.70mm 115 |
Ya I did think about the custom cams and spoke with Greg and Aaron at one point on them, and I then kind of swayed over to the S3's due to the fact that theyre a little more user friendly than the custom grind ones and the S3's are a bit more readily available than the custom grinds.

5R's would be interesting, I think theyd do well for the 2.4, the extra breathability would be good.

Actually to say the truth i'm not impressed with my s2 cams that much if I had my choice I would have gotten the kelfords are even wait for the juns..If I was you get the fp5 cams.
