Pulled a code, but don't know what it means?
got a CEL, pulled a code: P0138, O2 sensor high voltage, bank1, sens2. anyone know what it means??
do you have a test pipe/ cat delete?
yes UR Test pipe, but i was ok until recently, it is because is cold? what does bank1, sens2 mean?
1st sensor next to the turbo 2nd sensor downstream of your "cat" if you don't warm up your EVO without the cat you can get an overrich condition easier (too much fuel on the post cst sensor) and throw this code.
yea, because is like 2ºF here in nyc, so u think if i let the car warm up longer in the morning it would be fine? I don't start running the car until i have some coolant temp already, how long should i let the car seat?
How long have you had the test pipe installed?? I know that you can run but you can't hide from the check engine light. It will trigger sooner or later. I have the perrin cat delete, I didn't install the o2 simulator at first. The car ran without any CEL for about a week, then it came! Now That I have installed the o2 simulator, no problem. Your best bet is to erase the code with whatever scantool that you used to retrieve the code, and just keep on driving.
i have the test pipe for about 3 month now, never a problem, just recenlty, my only answer is because it got cold? it is possible?
I don't move my EVO untill the coolent temp stabilizes and my fans come on for the first time (I've got 365K on my dodge deisel and my oil pressure is the same as when I bought it new...)
i will try that, thanks
i'm probably the only one that had this problem. It is the o2 sensor heated element. basically its broken, and mine broke because of water. I had to replace the sensor with a new one, if you do want to to replace the sensor you can get a new one for 60 bucks from summit, instead of the dealers 300.
Has it snowed recently when you were driving around? Have you done any messing around in the snow, or rain? If you want some more info PM me and I can tell you how mine broke :D |
i have been difting in the parking lot when it is snowing, can u explain more about the heated element?? is the element inside the o2 sensor? is there a way to tell if is broken? i think the cel light started to come on after the snow now i come to think of it, btw, is the $60 same as the dealer 300 one? y such a price diff?

Under OBD 2 codes, if it were a o2 sensor heater circuit that's faulty, you will get a code of P0141, not P0138. I highly doubt its the heater circuit.
but is there a way to check to make sure?

If it was the heater circuit, you will get the other code. I really suggest that you remove the negative terminal of the battery to reset the code, and then continue driving. See if the same code does come on again. {thumbup}
