I hope this ain't a dumb question springs/cams..
I was calling around getting some price quotes for a friend on installing springs/retainers... Now my question is when installing springs and retainers don't the cams have to come out regardless ... because that's not the mechanic is telling me,,

Yes the cams need to come out when changing springs and retainers.
