BR bolt on's...

Hey guys,

I basicly have BR stage 2.5 complete(stage 3 without cams), but I didn't buy the AFC from Dave B. I previously had the AFC tuned on the dyno with a basicly stock EVO and I don't think that tune would be good at all to run on the BR stage 3 setup, so at the moment the AFC is not installed and I am running on the stock ECU with no piggy back at all.

I do NOT want anyone to violate BR policy of not giving out AFC setting. I want someone to tell me "it runs dangerously lean at XXX RPM without fuel control" so I can fatten up that area for safety until I can get the rest of my stuff installed and get the car dyno tuned again.

Any input would be great!

Keith

Well here is the thing if your runing a intake then at a some point the car would go lean with the factory ECU. I would suggest to get a custom dyno tune with the S-AFC. The S-Afc works well in this car but runing to lean will hurt performance in the long run.

That is the plan Eric, getting the cams, cam gears, sheet metal intake, and Cusco twin disk installed and dyno tuned on Monday. In the mean time I am driving back and forth to work and driving up to Michigan and I was hoping someone could say "it runs lean at XXXX RPM richen it up 5% at that point". Just for safety and peace of mind.

Keith,

Just add 1% across the Boost curve (over 3000 rpm) and you should be fine until Monday

do you have the s-afc O2 v hooked up , if so at wot i think the O2 v should be about .90 volts anything less is getting a lilte lean(THIS IS A GOOD GUESTAMATE) so tune from there

Settings are fine. They base the setting upon the size injectors you have and not mods. ;)

Call them up...

David Buschur Jan 29, 2004 07:19 PM

If you bought everything in our Stages up to 2.5 then give us a call and talk to one of use. We will hook you up with the settings.

We support the guys that support us. Buying that much stuff from us and just getting the AFC from someone else isn't that big a deal. Give us a call.

After reading Dave's post, can you doubt the man's class? I think that kind of service is just not seen anywhere else in the aftermarket industry. See you at the shootout Dave!

Hey Dave, I just talked Jerrod on the phone, and he said he could fax them to me or send them via the US mail.... he is checking on the possibility of e-mailing them. I think what he was looking at was the entire installation instructions though, he was talking about three pages of stuff! If you or he can just e-mail the setting to me that would be great!

On another note, don't you have a template that comes with the FMIC to show where the splash shield gets trimmed? I thought you did but Jerrod didn't know anything about it. If you don't have them, no problem....but if you do have one, mine didn't show up with the FMIC. The body shop F'ed up my splash shield and they are going to replace it at their expense, but if we have a template that will keep them from f'ing it up again. Otherwise I will cut it myself when it shows up, pretty sure I can figure it out :)

Thanks for the great customer service,

Keith

OK, ANYONE with BR AFC numbers you can see that I have permission from Dave to get them.... can you please e-mail them to me? I would like to have them before driving to Michigan (even though the car seems to have no troubles going back and forth to work).

Thanks,

Keith

EVO with RFL Feb 3, 2004 06:12 PM

Hey Eric or anybody, correct me if I am wrong but I thought that an intake can make the car run richer than stock airbox on Evo's due to more air being registered at the MAF sensor. Not the other way around. Hence when AMS installed a smooth intake pipe and a cone filter the car ran rich so they had to lean it out as published in Modified Magazine.

And also those of you who own SAFC II, I have read that doing the blue wire mod (I think) to get the O2 sensor voltage is not recommended for some reason. Are you guys aware of this.

Quickshift Feb 3, 2004 06:22 PM

Ya the 02 setting is not to be used for tuning , just a good way to reference how the car is running.

EVO with RFL Feb 3, 2004 06:34 PM

No, I meant it goes deeper than just the fact that it is not a precise tuning information. I heard it can damage something like ECM just by doing the mod. Hard to believe but nonetheless I did read somebody say that. Or am I just high.
