Who's running the Buschur cams? Buschur Vs S2
Currently running GSC S2's...while motor and trans is apart and no longer a dd I would like to try another cam. Have heard the Buschur 272 cams make the most power....Is that true? Anyone running the Buschur cam can you comment how good it idles and the low rpm driveability? My car has a/c, obviously the tune is a huge role in it but still looking for some comments.

I would go S3 cams over bf cams all day long but thats just my personal opinion.

I'm interested to hear what others say about this. I have Buschur cams and the idle is fine (never stalls), but I've never been in an S2 car so I can't compare drivability.

I´m using kelford 272 and my future project is reving my engine to 9K RPM with gsc3... of course I need to put dobles springs, valves and ti retainers... But I would like to know wich cams are better! Or what about kelford 284/280? |
I have the Buschur's unfortunately I can't comment about how they compare.. but my god do they sound AMAZING at idle

i have no proof or scientific data,but going from he new S2 to the BR272 may not give you what you want.
i was told that the BR272 have a lift of 10.8mm and only slightly more duration than the S2.if my sources are wrong then i apologize in advance. as far as the BR 272 making the most power,i would have to say no chance.Kelford and Piper both make some monster cams for the EVO with lift well over 12mm and duration up over 250* at .050" which i know are bigger than the BR272.the S3 is also a very aggressive cam. you might try the kelford HL284 or the S3 if you want a bigger cam than you have now.the HL kelfords have huge lift and duration and they also make a 294 in high lift.i think the switch to BR272 will be not much of a switch. just my opinion here,no evidence |
My car is on the Buschur 272 Cam , we have tuned my evo on the Stock Ecu and on the Aem using this Cam.
1. Lots of people feel that they need to rev past 8500+ and go with a big cam to do so , and forget that some of these turbos used dont make power up top ..... 2. VE plays a major key here. 3. the perfect balance between choosing the correct Turbo + correct housing .63 or .82, non restrictive exhaust , and Intake manifold = the cam can pull the correct amount of air In and out Gsc is a great Cam many of our customers use them with exellent results. My evo is on the BF 272 , makes great power and fast spool and i dont feel its a Drag Cam only . I beleive thats what David Buschur wanted this cam to do, Best Overall Power in the complete PowerBand. |
^^^^ +1 and thats exactly what they do! The bf cam hits soooo freakin hard on my setup its insane! The do not make the most peak power but they do give an awesome powerband with lots of torque. Peak power is over rated, i bet if some people rode in my car they would change their mind about how important torque and a wide powerband is.....
To the op, i cant say how they compare. I would expect them to run similar. I have seen many setups with s2's and their powerband is similar to mine but i would say the bf cams with hit harder and make more torque but i cant prove that. As far as the s3's go, i have thought about trying them but i seriosly love the bf cams so i think ima stay with them. |
Yes, David has posted repeatedly about striving for best overall powerband with his cams. So many people falsely believe that more duration and more lift means a faster car, when it's so much more complicated than that.
