ARP vs. OEM Flywheel bolts

Well i picked up a set of arp flywheel bolts part number 107-2801. Looking at them the ARP's are a little longer. i didnt know if anyone had experiance with these or have used these before on the evo. It is on a Quartermaster 8leg clutch they go in but feel like they bottom out as soon as they hit the flywheel i dont want to tq them, then have them snap.

get your hands on a caliper and measure how deep the hole is and compare it to the underhead length of the bolts.

Was curious on this too as to why the ARP bolts are longer. Decided to put all the bolts in and measure the gap between the bolt and crankshaft and this is what I got.

9.4mm
9.8mm
9.2mm
9.15mm
9.5mm
9.45mm
10.65mm

If it's the stock crank, you might get different numbers. I would definitely measure the gap of yours and then measure the depth of the middle part of the flywheel. My Tilton flywheel measured between 10.5mm to 11mm so these ARPs are pretty long for this flywheel.

Put an Auto collar on under the heads along with a set of nord lock washers and you will be good to go. Or you could always grind down the bolts some to make sure they are not bottoming out.

I use oem bolts and blue loctite on my 8-leg without issues.

I use oem with red lockem tite, never had any issues either. Only issues I've had is making too much power and breaking stuff lol.

I ran across this thread and wanted to correct it if it has misinformation. I found this thread with the same issues and more information:

I believe the correct ARP flywheel bolts for the evo is 107-2803 according to STM:

Can anyone confirm that they are the right length compared to 107-2801 with the issues being too long which is a dsm part # ?

107-2803 is the correct number, they didn't have one for EVO, and some shops were selling one for DSM for a while.

Interesting. I used ARP Flywheel bolts with my 8-Leg.... I had a buddy shear the stock ones off so I wasn't comfortable with those... I don't remember noticing if they were longer or not.. My car has a little over 1,500 miles now making 700+ with no issues, though.
