Evo won't shift

I have an 03 evo and it started not going into 2nd. I pulled the trans out and had it rebuilt. I can air shift it into every gear fine. When I hook up the linkage the brackets hit each other and it won't go into 2nd, 4th, and reverse. The bracket that holds the white shoe appears to be too low and doesn't properly seat onto the piece in the trans. I'm not sure if I bent something or what's going on. Has anyone else had this problem?

I had a similar problem after a transmission swap in my old talon. It wouldnt go into 1st, 3rd or 5th. My problem had to do with the trans cables being messed up. did you try shifting the trans by hand?

Also what "white shoe" are you talking about?

It shifts great by hand which makes me think the trans is fine. It's only with the bracket on the bottom that it bumps into each other.

The white piece looks like a rectangle with a piece cut out of it.

I understand now.. Could you post a pic of the brackets while there's interference (ie touching).
