Transmission Q's
Just sold my VIII and bought a IX MR, got a couple questions guys.
1. The clutch pedal is VERY hard, and uncomfortable for daily driving; the previous owner said it has an Exedy Organic clutch installed. What are my options to fix this? Is there an adjustment procedure I should follow? Or would I need to change the clutch altogether? 2. 6th gear is very tough to get the shifter in and out of gear. It's only 6th. It doesn't grind, just very hard to shift. Adjustments? Or transmission tear down? Thanks for the help everyone! |

So nobody has had issues with their 6spd transmissions? Really?

1) short if replacing clutch nothing you can do, the heavy pedal feel is from a heavy pressure plate.
2) if it's just one gear you're probably gonna need a rebuild to get rid of it, you can try adjusting the pedal but if it was clutch drag you would have difficulty in all gears. |

Edit: Make sure you don't have a master or slave issue but the fact the previous owner told you it has an exedy it's probably just a heavy clutch. |
I have a Q's, I want my evo 7 jdm 5 speed gearbox rebuilt. Anyone recommend a particular kit for my car that is making 250+kw at the wheels...

i think the 6th and reverse use the same synchro, does it grind going into reverse? also i always used stock diaquee oil on my 6 speed. like the others say nothing will change the pedal feel unless you get a new clutch. Iv had a few different clutch set ups over the years and so far the lights pedal feel is my exedy triple with the sd cover.
where abouts in NH are you from? Im just across the border in lowell. |

6th became hard for mine to go into also. Tried fluid and all that. Nothing helped. Not long after, i completely lost 6th gear
Went to a built 5 speed and never been happier |

It does not grind or go hard into reverse, just 6th. I am from Manchester. Just sold my VIII and drove to CT last week to get my IX MR.
if anything ever happens to your tranny i have my old 6 speed still laying around. new 4th and 6th gear to it also. |
You have a worn out hub and slider, very common issue with the 6 speed tranny.
