2005 Mitsubishi evo 8 idle problems

My car starts fine and will idle when cold and when warms up its still good but when I drive it and come to a stop sign or something the car idles down like normal untill it cuts out on me unless I stay on the gas atleast a tiny bit and then when I park it still just wants to cut out , I let it sit for a few hours then went and started her up and she idled just fine , any advice for me ?? Thanks so much already

I am thinking it is an exhaust leak.

Sounds like it might be your IAC valve dying on you.

Thanks , but can I have an explanation to the exhaust leak? I'm curious to know how an exhaust leak can cause such an issue

Did you re-set your ecu recently? ie. disconnect the battery? If so the ecu needs to re-learn how to idle.

If not then I would agree with IACV. either needs to be cleaned or replaced.

Been fighting this issue with my ix long time ago and doesn't seem to find any solution on it.

Until i spun my bearing and change to an used engine bought from a half cut dealer and idle was smooth like heaven but stil....some bad **** happened :(

Do you have any way to log the ecu? Evoscan? Sounds like you need to adjust your BISS, or your IACV is on it's way out. To test the IACV:

1) Remove it from the TB
2) While the harness is connected, turn the key to the on position. It should move.
3) Turn key off, it should still move
4) Check for any damange...the thing is only plastic.
5) Remove wiring harness and check resistance between pins 1&2, 2&3, 4&5, 5&6. All should read between 28-31 ohms.

If anything is off, probably need a new IACV

Thanks for the replies guys! I got home from work 40 mins ago I I made the car idle and I tapped the IAC to see if it could do anthing then I looked over and I saw one of the main intake hoses loose so I tightened the clap down test drove it and she is fine now I'm lucky that it was that simple and cost nothing to me , I just bought the car from San Diego and had it shipped to fort mcmurray Alberta and it was like this when I bought it but ya thanks alot!!
