q45 TB on SD doesn't idle when cold
First off I tried posting this in the tuning forums but it is not accepting new posts. And I've searched with no luck.
Now on to my issue. Like title states I have a q45 TB tuned on SD build 2.3l Gsc s2 cams stock ecu. The q45 only has the tps hooked up. My car will idle perfect once it's warm. But I have to keep my foot on the gas when it's cold to keep it idleing for at least 4-5 minutes before it idles on it own. I've tried fine tuning the idle screw but can't get any cold idle results. My question is... is it a tuning issue? And where would I start adjusting? Or is it a TPS or TB issue. Anyone have any similar experience or advice. Thanks in advance! |
Also I adjusted my tps all the way up to 13% when throttle is closed and it still doesn't even hit 100% At WOT it's only like 89%. Possibly bad tps?

You have no idle motor on a Q45. You need to adjust how the car is tuned cold to "simulate" the idle motor.

alright got it to idle cold, but im still trumped on my TPS. its at 13% closed, but WOT its only 89%? bad TB bad TPS? or is there anything i need to adjust. cuz moving the tps around doesnt help, because to get it to show 100% WOT i need to be at like 21% down low on the tps =/

It could be range of motion. Is it WOT at 89% or does it look like its only 89%?

Iirc less than 16% for idle circuits to be active, which includes timing stability control.

Yeah the throttle opens all the way physically. So that's what I was wondering. Thanks for the replies. I just wasn't sure if it would make a difference if the computer thought it was only going to 89%. Now I just got to fine tune this bad boy so I can get it to idle by itself right at startup without assistance .

Does anyone have the wiring diagram to install the Q45 into an VIII?

It has no closed idle switch so you have to simulate it so the ecu knows when you are at idle. Do you have the coolant lines installed? There is a certain process of setting the cold idle with the two screws on the tb. Personally, I would ditch the tb and get something a little more friendlily. I have battled them a few times and they are very meticulous.
