06 Evo won't rev help?

Ok like it says it won't rev under any load. Neutral I can rev to about 4-5k but in gear under load it won't go past 2 and it starts to sputter and carry on. I thought it might be plugs (since I got the car 5k miles past the plug service) so I changed them.

It happened on the highway cruisin about 65-70 and it just like lost power, and my speed started dropping, then I couldn't get any power back, I pulled over and checked what I could as far as I can tell I don't have any boost leaks, (don't have a tester but I'll be making one soon) runs fine at idle, any other opinions to try? Anyone have this happen? NO CEL though and engine running rich at idle but I have no cat. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you!

I've searched and read everything I could but couldn't find one with my symptoms, checked maf and for boost leaks and found nothing

bad coils, improper plug gap? maybe just a tune if you have aftermarket performance parts installed without a tune.

My lunch money is on boost leak(s).

Ok so I decided to check some live data with the scan tool got home from work went to start it and it started then immediately stalled out, started again it idled a little bit then stalled out as I started it aThird time it finally stayed running but I held the clutch jn the whole time and my mods are an injen hard pipe kit, and a 3in turbo back exhaust, (test pipe not high flow cat) still no codes except the one I created by unplugging the maf while running to see if it made a difference, I will be going to home depot tomorrow to get stuff to make a boost leak tester, hoping it is something simple.

Wouldnt it have misfire codes if the coils were bad? And I'm going to recheck plug gap just to be safe. And I may get a reflash. If the coils are bad I'm going to get a spoolinup COP kit

Sorry guys my evo knowledge is limited I came from Hondas and they would only set a light if the misfire count was high as hell and steady, an intermittent misfire would not always set a light, and a bad maf would not allow it to start. I know this isn't Honda but I'm not sure on how Mitsubishi sensors are set up :/

I think youve got a boost leak

Htcg06 Dec 31, 2014 08:13 PM

Or maybe the cop kit

Htcg06 Dec 31, 2014 08:13 PM

Do you use evo scan

I don't know what evo scan is :/ is it a reflash for the ecu? Or just a data reader?

I just got my pieces for a boost leak tester (had to go everywhere to find the right sized coupler but hopefully I can figure this out today and its something small. Thank you guys for the input!
