what are the synchro's made out of?
in the evo? i'm trying to decide between synchromesh and redline mt90 after my break-in

I would assume they would be brass, as are in the DSM trannies. Synchromesh has a good reputation for helping shift, but will slowly eat at your sychros--good for the short term, bad for the long. Redline MTL/MT90 mix works well for us DSMers (and me personally) so...

Listen, my local Mitsu dealer parts guy gave me the GM part number for the syncromesh. Some Mitsu dealers sell the GM stuff right in the parts dept. I am confident it's safe for our tranny.
I researched here and found better reviews of Syncromesh versus Redline for the tranny. Since I changed the fluid, it shifts so much smoother. |
