950whp+ Turbo Suggestions
Hey guys I've been looking online for pte6870 results on evo 8/9 but so far only found one dyno result on evom.
I'm doing a 2.2L motor with a rpm limit of 9500 with all the supporting mods imaginable. I'm just trying to decide on which turbo to get to achieve my goal of 950+whp. I've got my eyes on the Precision 6870 but my tuner says it won't reach my goal hp. He's suggesting the Garrett GTX4202R but I'm concerned about the spool etc. Any advice on which turbo would suit my needs? Here's the spec list: Nitto 4g63 2.2L stroker w/ billet crank, I beam rods 625 rod bolts CNC ported evo 8 head Kelford 288 cams AEM cam gears Kiggly valvetrain +1mm supertech valves ARP 625 head studs Racefab extended sump Buschur 1000hp rated CDI COP kit Bosch 2200cc injectors 2 walbro 450lph intank pumps -10 fuel feed and -8 return JMF drag or race intake manifold w/ S90 TB Sheepey 1000hp intercooler w/ 3 inch piping JDL auto T4 Twin scroll FF turbo kit 2x MVR 44mm wastegates Either Precision HP cover 6870 1.00ar OR GTX4202R 1.01ar 3.5 inch exhaust from turbo Here's some pictures of the Evo all the way from New Zealand :) https://thumb.ibb.co/mj3wew/20171230_150230.jpg https://thumb.ibb.co/dDjDRb/20171230_150901.jpg https://thumb.ibb.co/iQEDRb/20171230_150010.jpg |

On E85 and it was on a roller dyno not sure which brand though.
The 6870 will do 900ish whp on the same dyno on your setup on E85, at around 45psi. Marios |

is it reliable on that whp range or requires constant attention? |
consider a super 99 or 6870
we made 930 whp at 46 psi on a 102 degree day with the 99 but a 6870 will do the same....on T3 on stock intake manifold ported....you should make more. if you want fun and quick spooling a 6466 wil get you there also but with a lot more hard work |
if i was you i would go with a 7275 gen 2 that is gonna give you what you want.
6870 you will be pushing it to its limits if it makes it there |

S369 with 71 upgrade 115 lbs per min should do the job

On a high reading dyno, such as are most dynojets, you might be able to do 1000+whp on e85 in the range of 45 psi on a 6870, but if you want a true 1000whp, you will need a 70mm+ inducer turbo with 80mm+ inducer exhaust wheel. How much bigger than 70mm inducer, it will depend on the compressor wheel aero and blade surface, not all 64mm, 68mm, 69mm or 71mm inducer i.e compressors flow the same nor do they have the same mechanical boost threshold and transient response on the same setup. On a low reading dyno , I'll use the Mustang one as a common point of reference, the pte 6870 or a same size BW, will not do 950whp but it can do 850-880 max whp. On the dyno you are using it will do, estimation based on the s362 one, 900-910 max whp on pump e85 fuel.
A dyno is a tuning tool, so find one which it is the most strict in reading/converting torque/inertia to hp as what really matters is the lap or drag times and e.t. I would much rather built a car that has the lowest dyno numbers from other cars in its setup range but beat all them on track, than the opposite. Consult your tuner, if he is a properly knowledgeable individual in the field of tuning he'll suggest the right turbo among those that exist on the market or have a custom turbo made, tailored better/more to your needs. Making the best setup for a certain purpose goes beyond choosing a turbo or certain parts and bolting them together, or following a recipe that you find on forums such as this one. Marios |

Marios What do you mean by high reading dynojets they are pretty much the standard. Mustang Dyno can be manipulated like virtual dynos. Guys like Buschur, TPG, CBRD and ect are honest and will give you lower reading results. On a MD Dyno if you want to manipulate it you can however. On Dynojets its either uncorrected or corrected with soothing factor. |
