Lower my rpm's on my evo 5?
Hi.
im using my evo 5 as a daily. I have a rs rear diff if it matters. In 120 kph my rpm's is at 3500. My friend have a evo 8 5 speed. In the same speed it is right under 3000. Could i get a evo 8 gearbox and lower my rpm's or what would you suggest that i do? |
Evo 7 gearbox is a straight swap. My evo uses the 7 box, great for freeway driving, lower rpm and higher top speed. |
Do you have the gearbox code? On which gear/gears does it lower rhe rpms, only on 5th or 3-4-5?

The evo 8 gearbox is not a straight swap. It uses a different type of transfer case and mounts. |

I wouldn’t bother mate. 7 box will do what you need, with less labor charges from the garage. I saw your thread on the MLR. |
Weird, according to antony on indigo gt, the evo 8 gearbox is bolt on with the evo 5 transfer case?

It’s probably just the box mount that’s different then. The 9 is definitely not compatible. And stay away from 6 speeds |
It probably is mate. A 6 speed isnt going near my car haha. Thanks for your help anyway
