4G63 EVO 8 Engine Value

Hi guys,

Recently my turbo blew up and I kept driving a bit further (10 min) to my house without thinking anything serious would happen to my engine. Turns out that no there was no passage for the oil to enter into my engine (since the turbo blew) which lead the rods and bearings to the point where they are near broken. After this happened, I towed my car to an EVO specialist near me, they told me this happened to my engine. Furthermore, the oil was embedded in my intercooler pipes along with the small broken turbo fan chips. When I started my car at the time, my camshafts (272 kelfords + kelford spring kit ) were sounding fine as normal. I was just wondering how much would I be able to get from selling my long engine, the mechanic has not told me whether my pistons, my short block are broken and my camshafts are broken as they have not disassembled my engine. They offered me a price what me and my friends considered to be too low. I am not sure whether I should sell it privately or should just sell it to the workshop for $600. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you are referring to the entire long block, $600 is a ridiculous offer. The head alone is worth $1,000+, block that needs machined is worth $500ish. If the crank is good that’s another $400.

Ahh yes, the entire long block, thanks for letting me know.

The turbo blew and there was no way for oil to enter the engine? Hes having you on man. What shop have you taken it too? And if he hasn't taken it apart he can't give that diagnostic.

Well my friends did also say that it would've stopped the passage of the oil. The workshop I've taken it too is very reputable regarding evos as well. Yeah I will need to ask him to do a diagnostics as well. Cheers
