Tomei Arms 7963(japan) vs 7967(USA)

Hello guys. As i checked tomei (japanese brand) only has the Tomei Arms 7963 turbo kit and the tomei (USA brand) offers a bigger one with name 7967. The 7967 has a little bigger Compressor Wheel (in/out). Does anyone used this? For the Japanese one i have a friend that installed it and he is very pleased. But i was wondering what is going on with 7967.. Any good? Thanks a lot for your time reading this !

Tomei is probably the most uncreative turbo manufacturer there is. And I say manufacturer as a loose term, because they are just recycling other designs, and since the main source for a lot of these components is Chinese, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Tomei is just throwing Chinese parts together and calling it their own.

The 7960 is a TD06SL2 turbine wheel (61mm inducer, 54mm exducer) with a billet 20G compressor wheel (52.6mm inducer, 68mm exducer).
The 7967 is the same TD06SL2 turbine wheel with a billet GT3582R compressor wheel (61.4mm inducer, 82mm exducer).
The 7963 is the same TD06SL2 turbine wheel, but I can't figure out what compressor it uses. The 56.3mm inducer and 75mm exducer ironically are the same measurements as another TD06 turbine wheel, so that might be a typo. If it's not, then the compressor wheel looks to be in the neighborhood of a GT3576R.

Thanks for the respond. The old one 7960 was really garbage and many people had issues. The newest one I heated bit more reliable. Your opinion is that they don't worth buying ? Many people for low spool use fp hta71.

The 71HTA would spool much faster than anything Tomei offers because of the TD05 turbine. Each turbo that Tomei offers can be beaten by something else in its segment all-around.

I always thought the tomei arms turbos were nice products. Withe the factory videos etc. But at the end of the day FP nail them on all fronts. If you can't beat them join them.

I have owned a number of Tomei products, including the M7960 years ago. They are decent products, much better than cheap Chinese parts. The M7960 10.5 hotside housing was made of quality ni-resist type cast iron, worked well until I wanted to make more power. They also stock replacement parts for rebuilds.

However, I have to agree completely with your comment about Tomei being totally uncreative on their turbo designs. The M7960 might work as a replacement turbo if your car is stock and your Evo 8 turbo breaks, but the Tomei turbo doesn't measure up with even the stock Evo 9 turbo design. The M7960 quickly turns into a hot air blower when you try upping the boost. Blouch and FP have far better stock frame turbos. Even Mitsubishi itself outdoes the Tomei with the TF06R 18K turbo.

The "Tomei" label caused me some confusion as well. Turns out that Tomei Powered USA is a completely different company than Tomei Powered, Inc in Japan. Tomei Powered USA products are not designed, manufactured or tested by Tomei Japan.
So be careful you know what it is you're getting if you want to order a Tomei product. I got burned by it.

From your earlier description, if 7967 has sl2r turbine wheel, then it's like EF2.5 or FP's 18K for the evo X (Green turbine with Red compressor).
