New Engine Components From Callies
Hey guys, figured I start a thread about this as they aren't talked about much. Back in December I checked out Callies' booth at PRI and saw they started offering 4G engine internals and since then it seems they stepped up and added more options. I think this is pretty exciting because from what I've seen their attention to detail on the finishing machine work is far better than the what I've seen from Manley and Eagle/K1. Best of all, their prices are right on par with those other companies so you get a better product for the same price!
Here's the link to the page with their 4G stuff but I'll outline their offerings to keep things clear anyway: http://www.callies.com/catalog/produ...subishi-4g63/? Forged Crankshafts 88mm 100mm Billet Crankshafts 88mm 94mm 100mm 102mm H Beam Rods 150mm (optional upgraded rod bolts) I Beam Rods (their I beams use Ampco 45 for the small end bush, a high end nickel/bronze material) 150mm 153mm (yes, someone finally offers an OTS 153 rod for all you 94 crank guys) 156mm I'm debating building a backup engine during this coming winter and if so I'll be sure to post of photos of any other their stuff I pick up. Feel free to do the same. |
This is great news! Manley was going to sponsor me for my engine build but now I may have to go with Callies since I think they make a far better product.
If anyone wants a discount on Callies stuff, send me a PM. I will hook up fellow Evom members. |
Hmm. I wonder what those Ibeams weigh and what they'll cost.
So the ultra-enforcer Ibeam rod for the 4B11 weighs 826g. Yes, EIGHT-hundred twenty six. Hopefully the figured out how to shave some weight, or are going to make that 153mm rod in a different product line... But that link seems to indicate they'll be of the ultra enforcer family. |

If that 4b11 rod weight is accurate, and that transfers to the 4g rods, I won't be interested.

Good to see vendors still supporting the 4G platform. Interesting to see the 102mm crank on the list. I would have much preferred to see an affordable 97mm option.

I will have an answer on all the rods weights tomorrow, hopefully. And prices too.

Something isn't right here.
The Sports Series rods appear to be H-beam, Ultra Enforcer are I-beam. The website in OP's post says that the H-beams are only available in 150mm length, but the chart posted above shows a 156 and 162mm H-beam (priced reasonably, too). I'm hoping that they aren't made from the same generic blank that all of the budget H-beams are. Also, there's no way that the I-beam weighs that much. That's more than 170g over the MAP Ultimate Duty rods, which are gigantic. |
My Callies rep has no info on the Ultra rods yet. He says they are still a month out. So looks like we get to wait for more info.
|
Can you confirm the weight on the 4b11 rod? Seems astronomically heavy, so I'm curious..
|
I will ask him again but I doubt he will know. He likes to have products in hand before he shares the info.
However, we also have this as an option. This is one of JEs sister brands. Edit - Updated with list price and specs https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...87024b4a86.png https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...dadc672bd8.png https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.evo...a9aab91305.png |
I'm a little worried now that I went on Callies website and found that the current offered cranks for the 4g6x engines look like the Manley Billet crank instead of the "Ultra Billet" (pure 4330V steel) they offer for the Nissan GTR. Why do we get left out of the cool stuff?
