For those with MBC's...
 

Do you need a boost gauge to adjust the MBC? Or is it stand alone? If I don't need the boost gauge, then could you please tell me how the MBC can be adjusted to a certain psi? Thanks!

Unless you have some way of monitoring boost, you won't know what your doing with a MBC

Dude, are you serious? I guess you must be. The answer is yes! You do need a boost gauge to set the proper psi for the MBC.

yes you definately need something to read the PSI... then make a "small" adjustment....drive your car...watch the boost gauge.... then make another "small" adjustment...drive your car....watch your boost.....etc.....continue until you get to the desired PSI level.

My problem is this. I have an accel problem, where it hesitates at 4500-5000 2nd-5th. I installed a boost guage (autometer) to see what the psi was doing, and it gets up to , and at best it gets to 17 or 18. Even if you have a guage, how do you know you can trust it? I guess I should just have more faith huh?

If you have the gauge installed and no boost control it should peak at about 19psi (max) and settle to around 17.5psi. So if you are using stock boost control and you are only seeing 18psi you can equate that the gauge is about 1psi off; or you have another issue (more likely the issue).

I've installed several different boost gauges (from autometer to defi) and I've not hit a deffective one yet. This is not to say that they can't be deffective; it's just unusual. If you don't have faith in your gauge get a new one. Another autometer will only set you back 60 bux; but you'll get the peice of mind knowing it's correct.

BTW, of course you need a boost gauge if you're going to tune an MBC. :)
