David Buschur get's in done in 2 weeks! New Shortblock, New Head, New Tune!

I just got back from Ohio. That's a long drive from Central, Pa!
But well worth it!

David got my car done in less than 2 weeks, 8 business days to be exact!
Complete with:
Stage 3 Shortblock
(Buschur Spec JE Pistons, Buschur Spec Eagle Rods, New Bearings, ARP Hardware)
Stage 2 Head
(Mild Porting, Mill, Oversize Valves, Titanium Retainers, Valve Springs)
New Belts and Gaskets
(Kevlar timing belt)
Welded a Air Intake Temperature Sensor bung and install the sensor
(Previous MAP Conversion didn't have this)
Complete Retune
(With Knock Control on, much leaner cruise *25MPG*, new cold start configuration)

I didn't even get a chance to test it out yet, besides the much better fuel economy!
About 15 minutes into my ride home I got pulled over! And the cop was facing the other way, made a complete turn around just to pull me over! And then, let me off with a warning! Then I'm trying to talk to David Buschur on the phone and my friend get's pulled over! So I took it easy the whole way home.

I'm going to change the oil tomorrow and then break it in according to the Moto-man engine break-in procedure (Lot's of Revs). I'm going to install my water injection kit later this week, and try to find some Torco unleaded octane booster. And use these when I got out on the track.

But, I can't thank the guys at Buschur enough! 8 Days!

I'm going to try to get to the shootout on Saturday and see what it runs! And then Autocross it the next weekend.

The only thing I can complain about was my Buschur Racing stickers are in black and all my other vinyl is in white (yes, it's cheesy). I'll get David to work on that!

I'll post up a picture tomorrow of the stock rods and pistons (what was left).

Once again, take the drive to OH, get your work done at Buschur! Whenever I'm not broke, probably a while, I'll be back up for the Stage 3 Head, HKS Cams and intercooler.

Very sweet.. what did the engine work end up costing you? I've been tempted to do the same thing (800 mile drive for me though)

jansolo Aug 10, 2004 05:29 PM

Damn that is amazing. This is a good ending after hearing what happened to your car previously.

As far as costs go call David directly and get a quote, I'm sure he'll give you a great deal.

Congrat Meta, good luck with the new engine! Make sure you sign up for Walkins Glen 9/27-28th with NASA NE {thumbup}

I may just do that, I'll have to take a look at what I need to do the event and how far of a drive it is.

And Malibu, it's worth your time just to call David up and tell him what your plans/goals are. He can explain to you your options, 2.0L, 2.3L, 2.4L, built head, etc. Talking to him will help your purchasing decisions, and more importantly, David doesen't sell you things you don't need.

glad its back on its feet...

BTW, you never told me about the no IAT sensor...you were hopefully kidding right?

ColinL Aug 10, 2004 08:14 PM

wow, it's like a religion... or maybe someone selling Mary Kay. :D

I wish I could kid about stuff like this.

Trust me, joining a cult would be a hell of a lot cheaper than racing cars. Perhaps I need to find the faith again and say some prayers for this new motor. In David Buschur I trust.
