Went to the dealership today. .advice needed.

Just went to dealer to get an 04/possibly 05 for same price (talking to him tomorrow to finalize everything)

Need some advice on how I can do better (or did I get decent deal?).

10k down, beacon score of 752 so my interest is gonna be like 4.5..

72 months for 350 without the sun package and all that **** cause I didn't want it.

I can do a lot better, no? Can you guys give me some info on what to say and about what..like all the hidden fees and what not? Thanks.

PS - I know this probably shouldn't be here but I posted in the correct forum and kind of need advice/information ASAP.

advice: negotiate each aspect of the the deal separately. meaning, first negotiate the price, then the interest rate. if you have a vehicle to trade in, see what they are willing to give you. don't just let them give you a monthly payment. find out what everything is costing you. don't rush it.

Don't go finalize just yet, keep working the dealer. Just walk away everytime they want you to sign the deal. They'll end up try to call you back for a better deal.

Ask yourself this question:

Do I think it's a good deal?

If the answer is yes, then buy the car. Don't let anybody else's advice keep you from getting what you want.

Its hard to get anymore specific then that, because you leave out so many details: tax, title, doc fees, tag - if any of that applies, plus the amount you're paying for your car. Decide what you want to pay, make your offer and put it on paper. That speaks louder then anything.

What is their price on the car? At or near invoice?

Do NOT !!!! under any circumstances put down $10 on ANY car (they are a depreciating asset and you can do alot of things with $10K - take a vacation, whatever).

Personally I would ONLY lease the EVo. US Bank has money factors/rates in the 2%'s for your beacon.

Ask the salesman:

1st, what will the adjusted net cap cost be on the car
2nd, what is the car's residual value driving 10K miles per year and then ask what it is for 12K miles per year. Do it in this order.
3rd, negotiate your money factor (2% interest, or 2400 * .00085)
4th, decide your term (36, 39, 48)...

It doesn't seem like you are getting a deal but exactly the opposite. The numbers you are providing, show that you will probably be buying the car for around $32 grand. You should be able to get a better deal than that, also if it's possible try financing for 60mo instead of 72mo.

smart thinking in getting the price first and then getting the intrest rate. IMO, dragging payments out to 72 months is just a really bad idea, unless of course u are getting 0% APR. With that kind of rating, you should do better than that, 2 point something percent sounds better, in fact, mitsubishi may even be able to hook you up with 0%. Also, the general rule is to put down as much as you can afford on a car if you have to pay intrest, assuming that you can afford to do it without having to borrow money to cover something else, i.e. a mortgage, kids college loans or something else.

Yeah, that's out the door with tax and all the minor fees included.

Think I can do better then 4.5 interest? Like I put earlier my beacon is pretty good, especially for only being 21 (7520).

I didn't get sun and stereo cause I'm replacing it either way but I wouldn't have minded leather. Do they do leather seperate? Dude tried telling me 600 for the EVO WING. I told em to give me the wing the price we finalized. Don't the non RS come with the stock bigger wing? Anyway, appreciate any/more advice.

What about destination fee? Is that a buncha hokey pokey?

It was 500 and the dealership over here in Ft Myers (atleast on sticker) had it going for 2500!

All 2004 non-RS's should have the wing. Mine has leather, but I got stuck with the stereo (which is not very good), and a sunroof (which i like). Get the OTD price, including everything.

Why take out a six year loan? Regardless of the interest, you are taking it hard with that duration.

Can always pay it off sooner and in the end it won't have mattered. And besides, never know what'll happen down the line, and you're not stuck with $1000/mo payments. Gives you flexibility.
