Motor Trend long term review : November
came home from work today and was happy to find a new motor trend waiting for me, and to top it off nice 5 page artical on a one year EVO test with performance numbers to back it up.
what stuck out to me the most was the 1/4mile time of 13.1@ 105 and 0-60 in 4.6 seconds. All the articals from 1 year ago were saying 13.5s @ 101 and 0-60 in 5 seconds, are these engines getting more powerful as they get broken in?

Motor Trend says one thing Car and driver says another Road and track has their own numbers etc. Every car is slightly different and capable of slightly different numbers. Just because they are all Evo's and made the same year doesn't mean every one from the lot can run a 4.6 for 0-60. Drivers also make a huge difference. These are all professional drivers and the best numbers I have seen for the Evo are 13.01 for the 1/4 that was in a Road and track article. An article by Car and driver rates the Evo at 5.0 seconds and mitsu (conservitively) rates it at 5.1.
they are freakin awesome drivers I haven't taken mine to the track yet but with the extra 75lb of subs I'm thinking I will be doing good to keep it low 14's and I would be thrilled to hit 13's as a noob on the track

To get those great #s stock, they probably drive the living sh*t out of the car. They probably make a lot of passes until they get a satisfactory #. Don't feel too bad if you can't get the same #s stock.
Also, I would think that our cars would feel a little faster after getting broken in. After the piston rings wore in, I noticed I got slightly better gas mileage. Higher compression = better gas mileage = more power.
