Evo MR wrecked with 90 miles on it
Well you guys can count TWO totalled MR"s because i met some kid today that drives one. (around my age) he says he is going to have a 10 second MR with just 2 mods. Has had the car for 2 days and has taken it to the track AND has ripped off the front bumper. Drive safe guys, the evo is fast but its nowhere near invincible.

I think that the Evo is way too much car for a teen to drive. The capabilities of the car combined with all its publicized performance, plus a teen's lack of experience and attitude of invincibility, equals an accident waiting to happen.

i think you guys should really lay off of him... he obviously got enough crap from everyone... so he's blessed to get an MR at such a young age.. i know if all of you had the chance to get a car like that.. you would.. just leave him alone already ...i hate seeing so much flaming on a kid who made a mistake with an accident(alot of us have gotten in accidents) but is basically getting flamed cuz of his age... i have friends driving brand new M3's, G35's, 800hp supras and Porsches...i drive an x5 am i not old enough to drive a v8 truck ??.. just my 2cents...
No. You shouldn't and your friends shouldn't if they are under 18. I think everyone needs even just a couple years on a lesser vehicle. I do not care who buys you anything. I'm not jealous. I just KNOW 16 year olds shouldn't be driving high powered or giant cars.

I've noticed with my MR that on the brakes it will oversteer (even in the dry), the way to get out of the slide is to point the front wheels where you want it to go and boot it. Matt (above) has been there in my car once, and I've been there several times (on purpose). The car is very neutral, and as such will reward a skilled driver and punish the not so skilled.
YMMV,

Also I don't know if trying to "boot it" is the best solution, it might straighten the car up but probably too quickly and if he didn't unwind the opposite lock quick enough he could slide the other direction. Accelerating quickly and smoothly might be a better option. Getting on the brakes sharply is probably one reason the back started to slide in the first place so doing the same to the accelerator pedal would not be the best idea. Keeping all the inputs as smooth as possible generally helps to control things.
I am a bit surprised about this happening though. My father has an Evolution VI that I have driven on a few race tracks and it definately tends towards oversteer if I try to trail brake at all into corners and just lifting off the accelerator in (or sometimes going into) a corner can get the back to wiggle. But I thought the MR with a more advanced ABS & EBD system and the ACD and SAYC (that still work when the ABS is in use, unlike previous models) would be a lot more stable under braking, also I thought the Evolution VIII's longer wheelbase would help a little.

i give this kid props for coming clean. cut him some slack. seriously though guys.....i guarantee if you were his age and had a car like that 99% of us would be alot more reckless than that. glad you are okay and think of it as an upgrade opportunity.
