Do I or do I not need the install kit for my Walbro FP?

After doing some reading on the boards some people say it's not needed, while others refer to it. Evomoto refers to it in their install guide. I own just the pump (GSS342)right now, do I need the install kit?

Thanks,
Sam

NO need to.

I reused the stock fuel filter ... everything is fine.

I've installed several and never used the kits.. OEM filter is better. Just don't loose the little locking ring at the bottom that holds the filter on. It's tiny and it's on tight. Just take it off slow; wiggle it side to side with a small flat head screw driver and be sure not to shoot it across the room.

Good luck!

You don't need the install kit.

Kinda off topic, but I am doing mine tonight, I have no ECU ( at DYNO FLASH) should I wait to get it back. Step 1 in EVOMOTO talks about turning the key then pulling off the "pressurized line" any inputs or have most folks just pulled the line?

Yes, wait for the ECU. You'll want to pull the power connection out of the FP housing, then turn the car over till it stalls. Then turn it on and let it stalls four or five more times, to clear all the fuel out of the lines. Otherwize, have a ton of towels ready, and your car is gonna stink like gas for a few days.

let me know if you have tech questions about the procedure.

I used the kit, but could definitly see using the old OEM stuff. I only used the new filter, everything else, o-ring, bottom rubber piece, and wires, was OEM. I didn't use the de-pressurization method because my car sat all night before I did it. No mess and any gas I got in the car didn't smell too bad. (Febreeze works wonders!!)

All OE hardware works fine ...pop the gas tank cap and loosen the pressure connection slow... it will leak just a little, but have evaporated before you finish the install. This is actually on the top of the fuel tank and not inside the cabin of the car. So as long as you don't spew gas everywhere, there will be no smell. Also, a pick (if you have one) gently used to pull the retainer (holds the strainer on) off the bottom of the pump seems to work better than anything else.

I did mine last fall. Reused oem stuff.

My advice is take your time and try not to get too frustrated putting it back together. There is one step when reinstalling that's was a huge PITA for me and had me cursing the engineer that designed it, lol. Somethine like a round peg into a square hole...

Take care,
