have you been in a modified Evo before?

Today was the first time I went for a ride in a modified Evo 8. This car is decked out with HKS Kansai parts all over. Everything besides the wheels was Kansai. CF hood, CF air scoop, coil overs, clutch, sway bar..etc Anyways the owner of the car went to japan and met up with Kansai himself and ended up buying everything Kansai told him to get. His entire engine was modded internally. There was not one thing he didnt do to the inside of the engine. Whats funny is that he only upgraded to a MR turbo He was suppose to install the HKS F-Con V Pro tuned by Kansai but somehow something was wrong so we just plugged in the stock ECU to start the car. They said the car ran like crap because its using a stock ecu and its not even tuned. He still took me for a ride in and this sucker is fooking fast! When he gunned it I was thrown back into the seat like a b!tch. It had so much torque I felt a bit sick I dont know if it was his driving or me being scared of the speed but I did get a slight headache. It pulled so hard up to 5k rpm and then it wouldnt pull much after that because of the turbo I think. I cant imagine if he had a bigger turbo or if the F-Con V pro was installed! I had the biggest smile on my face and couldnt stop laughing because it was just a amazing adrenalin rush and I couldnt believe how fast that car was. You know that look when you see peoples faces after a roller coaster ride, well I had that same look I had no idea the Evo engine was that strong. Im so glad I got the Evo and Im never selling it, gonna turn it into a beast. If you think your stock Evo is fast then you should get in a modded Evo because you will be surprised at how fast those things are. Sorry for the long post. Now I need to save up and start modding Now I think my car is slow

Imagine if his car was tuned. Tuning will make the most difference. Gotta love the power potential of the 4g63!

I agree 100%, right tuning can even wring out significant whp on stock turbo with minimal bolt-on mods.

Stock evo on a straight road, maybe not, but I bet a stock evo on a curvy road does.

Riding in heavily modded Evos makes me mad that I'm a poor college student.

My friend told me to get a 16G turbo. How much horses can you get out of that compared to stock? How does it spool up?

You should be thankful you have an EVO while you're in college! It's not like the EVO is a poor performer in stock trim.

I can relate to how you feel though. I had my lightly modded 1g DSM while I was in college, and I wanted to mod it heavily so badly since I would read about how fast they can get on the talon digest.

Our stock turbos are 16g's. Guys have run mid 11s on our stock turbos. That's around 450 hp at the flywheel.
