Anyone redone their brakes?

To anyone out there who has re-done their factory EVO 8 brakes with factory brake pads...

What did you pay for the whole job?
What was the breakdown (in other words how much were the pads versus labor)?
Was it at the Mitsu dealer?
What was your mileage?
How difficult was it if you did it yourself?

Anyone find a good price for Mitsu factory pads on-line?

I'm getting close to replacing the pads and I wanted to see if I can find a good price on-line and either do it myself or at least bring the parts to the mechanic to save $$.

Thanks

if you want to save money dont use oem brake pads.

get project mu pads or hawk hps pads. They are the cheapest around i think.

also its extremely simple to change the pads yourself. It took me all of 10 minutes to do each wheel.

look in the how to section and theres a good writeup if you are iffy about the process.

also lancershop.com and gruppe-s and tirerack all sell evo brake pads.

I really like the OEM brembo pads for the street and autocross. But doing it your self is the cheapest way and also you know it was done right.

I changed my pads to the hawk hps. These pads are great. They barly give off any dust, and they heat up really quick.

Prices of aftermarket and OEM pads.

I got the Project Mu's NS Pads and they bite harder than stock and give alot less brake dust. They cost me $150 shipped for all 4, from logic performance.

Edit: Doing the pads your self is easy and way cheaper than taking it to the dealership. I'm sure there's a Evo owner near your area that is willing to help out.

Here's a link on how to change the pads... https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=96005

Ok.. if you want some of the best brakes.. here what I suggest....

Replace pads with... Hawk, Mintex, or Padgid.. I have Padgid RS-42 Blue and they are way better than stock, semi-track/street carbon compound, engineered in Germany... very little fade..

2nd. Upgrade brake/clutch fluid.. Bleeed and rid of the stock fluid and throw in some Motuls, or Better yet Castrol SRF Racing Brake Fluid. Top of the line best stuff 680 degree boiling point.. Its the shiiit..

3rd. Goto mitsu and get the brake venting kit.. Easiest thing i ever installed..

4th.. Upgrade to Stainless Steel brake lines, better brake feel, and a lot safer too..

Just my suggestions.. works great on the track..

***BTW the Padgid pads are the #1 Porsche used pads on the Track, and also are a lot cheaper than the crappy stock brembo ones..

theres a HUGE price gap.. like over all 200 dollars i believe.. i i got hawk hp ( just til summer ) and they were 180 for everythign or maybe a little less,.. the stock fronts are 220+ and rears are 100 something i believe... if you want good performance pads loook at the Endless SSS-S, or the other endless is called vita.... something.. on WorksEvo.com, those are VERY good pads, cheaper, and they will outlast and out brake the oem's

Rotors

Have any of you replaced your rotors? Like maybe cross drilled? I always told myself that brakes would be the last thing I'd alter from OEM since the brakes got rave reviews, but now I think my rotors are warped...

well i did EBC greenstuff for the fronts, and hawks in the rear.. and let me tell you... i WISH I stuck with the stock ones.

i dont know what it is but- my car does NOT brake as good as it did stock and my pads squeal alot... which they never did stock. im having alot of brake fade.

i dont know if its the ebc greenstuff, or the hawks...

jack up the car remove the rim, remove the 2 pins pull out pads put back pads put back pins put back rim .. that easy

Lets say for the sake of NO debate I'm doing stock pads. I see lancershop has front pads for $218 per corner ($436 for fronts) and no price on rear pads. Any better prices on STOCK pads?
