Question Need help in making desicion: Turbotimer vs. Alarm

I need help. I need to decide whether I want to install turbo timer or alarm system that has the turbo timer feature (Compustar - the only alarm system that has a remote start for manual, as far as I know). Here is some of the facts:
  1. The alarm system is about $690 installed while I already have the turbo timer so the installation will not cost me more than $100 if using professional help.
  2. The alarm system installer doesn't have the wiring diagram for 05 EVO and need a whole day just in case "something" happened. I personally do not want them to tear down and then realize that they can not install it.
  3. The alarm system will bypass the mitsubishi key code theft deterrent system and I'm not sure how good this alarm system is.
  4. The alarm sytem has a remote start while if using the turbo timer, you can manually crank the engine and turn on the turbo timer and then take the key out and wait somewhere warm.
Basically that's it. Please vote so to help me decide. Any comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Can post it here or PM.

Thanks

i totally get where you're coming from... i've got an ultra xr7000 alarm system for my car... has an autostart with a built in TT and all the other features... prior to that... i purchased an hks type 1... i've been fortunate enough to have this alarm and my turbo timer installed with no problems... i love the hks type 1 for all the features it has... so rather than picking one or the other... i think you should try to opt for an alarm that would allow to use both =)

I bought a turbo timer, but I voted for an alarm because that is what I'm getting now due to me seeing this thread.

It's your money though. I'm putting my xede and exhaust on hold for me to get a nice alarm.

Why don't you get an alarm that has a TT type function built in. They're rather common now.

how is alarm gonna help you if someone did that to you car?

alarms are useless, unless you have a flame thrower alarm.

You could conjure up something like that, make it remote control onto those LCD relay remotes with status check.

I would get the TT and come up with few different solution for an alarm. You could have few sensors mounted on your window and hood without compromising alarm.

Thanks for the input... actually the alarm has the turbo timer feature in it. The scary feeling I have is that the authorized alarm installer doesn't have the wiring diagram for '05 EVO and he requested that I left the car for the whole day just in case "something" came up. What I'm afraid of is that they will tear everything apart trying to install it and realize that they can not do it. Does this worth the risk? that's my dilemma

Go to an installer who has a wiring diagram that you need.

It's not worth the risk if he's working in the dark with no diagram.

Get a viper 791 xv and a turbo timer, both installed, for around the same price as the compustar. Id much rather have a directed 2way than a compustar.
