Evo VIII manifold heatshield ???
Evo VIII manifold heatshield ???
I have a question for you guys about the heatshied on the manifold.
Awhile back I was told on my 1994 Eclipse GSX that If I wanted to remove the heatshield from my car's manifold to do so when it was cold. Well I tried to and two of the bolts broke off.
I don't want this to happen on my Evo VIII do you guys have any suggestions ???
Should it be done when the car is hot or cold ??? and is there any kind of penetrating spray that will help break them loose (like WD40 ?)
When putting it back on should I use antisieze ??
Thanks in advance
Derek

it's always good to use penetrating spray whenever you're removing any bolts that look a bit rusted....(considering the air scoop lets water on our heat shields on rainy days or just plain car washing...)
and yes....anti seize is always good when puttin' the bolts back....just use enought to coat the threads....
as for hot or cold....um...rather than risk burnin ur hand....do it when it's cold...but i don't think either way would matter....
