Newbie TurboTimer/Guage???'s

I'm leaving in about an hour or so to go pick up my new EVO. Very excited!!! I want to add a boost guage. What other guages do you recommend for an evo that will probably be stock for a while? Also how important is it to have a turbo timer? Subaru says that the way the cooling system is engineered for their turbos that there is no need to have a turbo timer. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Also how difficult is it to install these guages and turbo timer?

Thanks,
Jeremy

Why get a boost gauge now if your evo is going to stay stock? Personally, I wouldn't install one unless you were going to mess w/ the boost. Unless you just want the piece of mind that your boost levels are correct...

As for the turbo timer, also ultimately unnecessary on a stock Evo. Exercise sound judgement and let it idle for a little bit before turning it off after any spirited driving or if you've boosted just before coming to a stop. Just don't drive really hard and immediately turn off your car afterwards.

i would just buy a boost guage. maybe an autometer. i have used them for ten years and not a prob. as far as a t.t., depends on two things, 1. if youre not going to drive the car hard, and put it away wet, then no, the turbo is water and oil cooled. or if you do run hard occ. , and are like me (lazy, i dont want to sit in the car and wait) then i would. my sugg. hks. you can have a manual countdown or an automatic. i have it and love it. these are just my thoughts. other may say diff. and good luck geting the car

Congrats! Just get the factory gauges for now since your going to remain stock for awhile and as for turbo timer, you can get it if your lazy but if you have the patiences, just wait a couple sec/mins after a spirited drive before shutting off.

boost gauge is a must! Defi D

turbo timer is not really needed, but its pretty cool to have your vehicle shut off seconds / or minutes later after you take the keys out and walk away from a locked car
