MR Gages? loose?

Ok.. a few questions

I know what the boost gage on the MR is, my question is it tied to the computer or REAL boost thu a hose?

also on the MR, what is this "temp" gage. it only reads no more the 55 deg C? has not moved since i got it.. I have not pushed the car but still

2 out of the three MR gages are loose on my car.. gotta bring it into the dealer to get fixed.. any idea why, and anyone else have this issue?

thanks

From what I've seen, the boost gauge is tapped off of an existing vacume line from the intake. Also an excellent place to tap into for a second A-pillar mounted boost gauge. Kinda hard to see the stocker under WOT. The temp gauge you are referring too is the oil temp gauge. The sending unit runs down too and is integrated into the oil drain plug. I've noticed mine doesn't move very much either, then again all of the playing I've done has been during 10-30* air temps. Guess the front mounted oil cooler is doing an excellent job. I'd say if they're loose (gauges), definately let the dealer check them out.
Happy hunting.

I don't know whether they should be loose or not...

But from a racing standpoint, some gauges come loose (can be rotated) for the driver to adjust them, so they can be checked with a quick glance. Kind of positioning the gauge so that the needles should be pointing upwards when running normally, so you can quickly identify any problems just by looking at it.

I don't know whether the gauges should be loose or not and would recommend if you feel insecure about something, to take it to the dealer for an inspection.

Good luck with everything and happy motoring!

on my MR the oil temp gauge has not moved from baseline either. From what I have seen and read it should be at least 70-80 during normal operation. I am going to check the oil drain plug sensor and make sure things are ok there. Does anybody have other ideas?

the loose gauges can be easily tightened by removing the panel and screwing the back of the gauge.

Had my MR a week and a day now and nothing has been moved. although i do notice the shift knob rotating back and forth (just barely) when ever idecrease my acceleration in first gear, but my eclipse was like that in first gear. i just assumed its normal with manual cars? should this not be happening?

The oil temp won't go up much in cold weather unless you push the car for a while or let it idle for a while. During the summer it will steady itself in the 60-70C range while cruising down the highway.

Mine does that occasionally. I just tap on it a few times and it comes back to life.

The oil temp gauge definitely takes a little while to come up. I've noticed on my MR it may take up to 20 minutes depending on the ambient temperture. After that it typically shows around 60-70c.

The gauges can be tightened by hand quite easily from behind. Do a search on radio relocation, there's a good DIY w/ pictures.

And as a rule-of-thumb, I wouldn't hammer on the car until you see that oil temp gauge move off the baseline....especially in colder climates during the winter.

I swaped positions of the gauges and the radio and found that the studs that hold the gauges were barely finger tight. Also there is a quick disconnect plug about 4 inches up wire from the oil drain plug which wasnt firmly connected. No tot mention the wire wasnt secured to anything and hanging down about 3 inches below the rest of the car. Seems like the port installed acessories were just quickly slapped in.

Does the 05 EVO 8 included the wiring harness for the stock gauges or the MR gauges?
