Question Touch-Up Paint Question

Stupid question, one end of the tube is obviously the paint.

The other end is clearcoat or thinner?

I was able to put the other end on the paint and rub off what I originally "touched-up".

thanks

If you read the tube it will tell you that it is clearcoat. If the paint is not dry and you put the clearcoat on it will take it off. You should put several light coats of paint and then after it dries you put the clear on.

Yeah ^^ what he said. The paint has to completely dry or the clearcoat will take off the paint.

thanks,

I accidentally ripped off my label b/c my dealership put some other sticker crap on the tube and when I tried to remove it, everything peeled off. There was like 3 layers of stickers on it, i dont' get it.

But I'm checking it now to see if its dried, I'll apply one more before sundown.

To quote my parts guy,

"Just have your girlfriend do it. It's just like painting nails..."

The touch up paint I got from my dealer was just in a small bottle. Is there a part number for the BBY touch up paint that comes like you described?

You have to use your VIN # to order paint. They wouldn't even order "Rally Red" because they wanted my VIN.

actually, I never heard of a dealer who won't order unless you have a VIN, guy must have been burned on a few order but non-sales before.

My dealer is great, I just call him on the phone, tell him my part number and he orders it.

But to your question, just know your paint code and tell him you need it for touch up paint.

Everytime I go in to order touch up paint, they ask for my VIN. I tell the guy "It's Rally Red, there's only one Rally Red." Still made me walk back out for the VIN...focker.

The reason why dealers ask for the VIN is because Mitsu doesn't tell you what cars had what colors. They put the VIN onto the caps and it tells them the code. Now if you know the name or the code then we don't ask.

My Mitsu dealer sucks then...what can I say. Nissan did the same thing to me too, I had a Molten Silver Spec-V, and that wasn't good enough for the parts guy.

My parts guy had no clue about rally red either. In fact, Since my name is in his computer he just asks me which of my cars it's for,if I ask for Evo parts he always asks "for your Lancer?" I just smile and say yes. He look sthe part up, prints me out a bill which I pay before he sends the order in.

The metalic paint for my wife's Diamonte came in a little bottle with a brush as did the paint I bought for my Eclipse. The rally red for my Evo came in the double ended tube you describe.
