EVO RS Purchase Questions

Guys,

Contenplating the RS, so I have a few Q's

1. Is 27,000 a GOOD Price, or should I push for less?

2. The MAIN Reason I'm buying is of course the LOW ET, so can I reasonably
expect 13.1 @ 102 like the mags are getting. I'll be using 94-98 Octane at
sea level.

3. Coming from the Turbo Buick camp, I've had 5 Low 12 Sec Buicks over the last
15 years, is it Reasonable to expect high 12's for LESS Than $1000??

4. I don't give a Crap about music, but apparantly the RS comes without a radio,
Whats the Cheapest I can a Stereo for, and Cassete is even fine??

5. Has anyone Removed the front sway bar for better weight tranfer at the
Track(Drags of course)?

THANK YOU In Adavance!!!

1. Paid $25,500 for my 04 RS, but the 05s cost more.

2. Not sure what the question is. Expect some variation between cars.

3. Yes. But you'll need to replace the clutch fairly soon if you do much dragging, and that will cost some $$$, especially if you can't do the work yourself.

4. I bought a stock Evo radio for $50. It's an easy plug in because the RS's are wired the same.

5. Don't worry. Traction won't be a problem, especially at that power level.

I thought the 276HP Lightweight EVO RS just came out?? How could you have an 04??

And as for the Clutch, isn't that covered under warranty?? As long as you keep the car stock they HAVE to Fix/Replace it!!

And do I need to buy a JUST a head unit, or Speakers as well??

11SECEVO,
1. I payed 27K for my 2005 Rally Red RS
2. The time's posted in the mags are attainable, but the cluch would be the weak link.
3. I am sure 12's are easly done with a few bolt ons
4. Radio is pre-wired so it takes very little effort to install head unit and speakers
5. Can't comment on front sway bar?

Buy the Evo RS you will love it!
Best of luck

RS came out late in the 04 model year. There are 600-700 of them I think. Clutch is not going to be covered under warranty. Car is wired for speakers, but none are included.

I have an 04 RS. Don't expect the clutch or anything else to be warrantied once you start modding the car. They are pretty much refusing most warranty work on evo's. If I wanted a car for the 1/4 mile I wouldn't buy an evo. If you drag race the car you will kill the clutch fast and your transmission probably will be next.

Tell that to a Mitsu service manager and see how far you get. You'll be doing well if they just refuse to fix it. If they take it apart and conclude that the wear is clearly caused by launches, they might just void your warranty altogether on the Mitsu dealer network computer system. I think you need to do a lot more homework on the Evo if you are planning on racing one (drag or autocross) and using your warranty to fix powertrain issues, even if it's bone stock.

By the way, are you planning on staying stock with that screen name?

Ware and tear items like Tires, brakes and clutch are not covered under any bumper-to-bumper warranty.

Clutch is considered a wear item. I have never heard of anyone getting a replacement clutch by any manufacturer.
