I was wondering if the black piece of plastic on the back of our RECARO seats is removable or not?

and if it is, how do I remove it?

yes, you can remove it. thats how they replace the seatbacks when they crack. its a long procedure...i dont know exactly how they do it but i'll check my manual tonite.

 

anyone make a carbon fiber back?

 

bump from a oooooold thread. Anyone ever find out if you can take the black plastic off the rear of the front seats? If so are there replacements available?

 

About a decade ago someone posted that they had sourced a new seat back. I checked the source and found they carried parts for seats. So, it has been done. But sources like that come and go and usually upholstery items aren't kept in stock very long. Still, depending on what Mitsubishi has in their warehouse, you might be able to buy an entire new seat.

I had a 1 - 2 inch crack in the driver's inboard side of my seat back. There's one or more repair threads here for the seat back. I just drilled a small hole at each end of the crack to keep it from propagating.

Also, its not difficult to swap the driver's and passenger's seats if that would help.
