05 evo question

This may be the wrong forum to post this but my buddy baught a 05 evo a couple of weeks ago. Last night he was going to launch it against a sti, both cars stock. When he went to lauch the car he could only launch it at 5000rpm and it wouldnt let him do it over. Any suggestions on how to fix this or what to do about it would be great. Sti got him out of the whole but he caught him at the end of a quater.
thanks lance

The 05's have a launch control and you will not be able to launch past 5k rpms. Your friend really should have researched the car a lot more before he bought it. Not to mention just a couple of bad launches past 5k can kill the clutch and severly damage the transfer case.

That is the Dual Rev Limiter that is engaged when the clutch is pushed down. To disable it simply Unplug the cable to the clutch switch even though I dont think that you want to do that. I have an 03 evo and if i launch ANYWHERE over 5 grand I get a 1.8 60ft I wish i had that feature so i can have great launches all the time. Also that was put on because people kept launching at 7000rpms and frying the transfer case. Remember just look where the clutch is and disconnect the cable Hope this helps
