The conversion on their site yielded $27,884.70.
I can just imagine the "we're getting ripped off" threads being typed up right now.

So the fuel tank IS NOT the reason for not having AYC and ACD. I would think price point was the factor in not getting these items, which leads me to believe there will be another Evo coming in answer to the STi.
# Evolution VIII models use the same fuel tanks as fitted to the North America market series

thinks it will sell that US EVO with ACD/AYC? Another two three thousands over the price in Japan. They are already charging (or planning on doing so) $1,000 USD over the price in Japan (kind of like difference in the shipping charges), so how much they think the price can go up there???Even in their brochure/PDF file they are saying that active drivetrain improves, well everything, while we still get a stupid things like we are getting a great stuff...
Well, I promised to my self I will not do this, but I guess I failed!

You can't just use a straight exchange rate to show how much it would cost in the US. Many other factors to consider...
Also remember that we are ultimately paying for all the pieces designed strictly for the US market, like
- Recaro seats for fat asses
- Special ADVAN tires
- 2.5 MPH bumpers and other US regs

For a fully dressed USDM Evo VIII with all the trimmings, I would expect a price of around $32-$33K. That's my guess.
In reality, they can keep the 6 speed and AYC. I do want however the ACD. If they would offer this as an option with an extra hp package at or under $32K, I would be overjoyed.

JPN prices may seem lower than USD, but actual cost of ownership in japan includes satisfying these pre-requisites in conjunction with vehicle registration(japanese law called the Road Vehicle Act):
Verification of the avaliability of motor vehicle parking space (Law concerning motor vehicle parking space, etc.) If you're in the cities, gotta find/make arrangements for garage/storage.
Verification of the payment of motor vehicle tax (Local Tax Law and Road Vehicles Act)
Verification of the payment of vehicle weight tax (Vehicle weight Tax Law and Road Vehicle Act.)
Verification of the conclusion of compulsory automobile liability insurance (from the mutual aid association) (automobile liability security law)
You must complete all paperwork before delivery!! That's why people don't believe me when I tell'em only old rich people can afford car's americans drool over! (for example, 350Z target customer in jpn is 45 yrs old!!)
regarding US vs. JDM version, perhaps someone with more Evo knowhow than I do can verify if US version is closer to JDM Lancer GT-A? pdf: http://www.mitsubishi-motors.co.jp/i...ews_index.html
If that's the case, I would wait for the full version before putting any deposite on that STi. Those marketing boys think they're so smart
