Evo8 Brembo Brakes

Are these Brembo brakes ok for normal driving, or do they cause excessive wear just doing alot of stop and go driving. Also how much more are these brakes to service than standard brakes?

Also lets get to the bottom line...... does this car come with a boost gauge, and where exatactly does it say that this car dosnt come with cruise control..

Thanks!!

yes - they will be fine for daily driving...
the Evo is hardly the first car to have Brembo as OEM brakes...
Mustang Cobra, Z06, G35 6-speed, Z350 track - are just a few examples I can think of.
I wouldn't worry about brake problems, they will probably be one of the major strengths of the car.

no, a boost gauge isn't included from the factory, but it looks like you can get a "pod" as a dealer install. having a boost gauge isn't necessary till you start changing the boost pattern. you won't find many cars with forced induction that have them from the factory.... WRX, RX7, Supra - none of these cars have them standard either... dunno really know why, cause many of us will add them eventually.

You can have cruise control on manual cars (As anyone with a 5spd OZ knows). I think it's a matter of whether you want to be running at a constant speed while in boost due to gas consumption....that and it's a sports car. Doesn't seem like it'd be particularly popular as an option in my eyes.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Hobie, but I don't think you'd be pushing very much boost running at a constant cruising speed, and either way, you'd be using the same boost whether you're cruising at 70mph using the gas pedal or cruising at 70mph using cruise control.

Depends where in the revs you are. Assuming the turbine starts spooling around 2.5k-3k if you're cruising at 5k you're going to be burning a goodly bit more.

Still if you drive like 4-5 hours then cruise control would be a plus

you can switch feet when one gets tired. When going on long road trips there is usually a point at which you can safely use your left to accelerate since you will not be braking or shifting for hours at a time. Just takes some time to get the sensitivity right.

My 2 cents

Hobie, dude unles you're cruising at 110mph, you'll never be at 5k and then you'll be in boost.. I'm never in boost at 90 in either of my cars.. Who told you that about boost and cruising??

Porsches use Porsche designed brakes manufactured by Brembo. They are monoblock calibers. And are not the same as or similar to the Brembos on the Evo.

Brembo also makes the BMW brakes which again are not the same as the Eco Brembo.

The Evos use the "F40" caliper from Brembo first use on the Ferrari.

The only issue with the Evo brakes is “warping” of the front disks. If you use them hard with performance pads it is pretty common. Seems to be a cooling issue along with the stock one piece disc. The common upgrades are two-piece discs or complete systems.
