As stated.....do i absolutely NEED one? Ive got one coming on my friends STI in a few days....should i wait?

I'd 100% put it on. If you're changing your boost, you really need to know where it's at.

edit: also, to set it you need to know what you're setting it at...

^ he is correct. How can you tune the boost pressure w/ no gauge?

When you hit fuel/boost cut.... then you'll need a boost guage.

Until then... butt dyno might help.
