I have a really old Bel. Still works great. Not too many cops have to latest and greatest, tho I'm taking a chance if one of them does. I've been thinking about getting the passport. I have a friend who has the V1 and he used it in my car along with the Bel and the Bel was causing it to go off non-stop. And He says it does false a lot in the city.

Red is better for night vision than blue. I believe (and the pilots can confirm this--I only know how to build the planes, I don't fly them) pilots use red map lights in the cockpit. Doesnt the blue one cost more? Why pay more for something harder on the eyes.
I think that either one is fine among the new Passport or the Bel Pro RX65. The old Bel you have is probably not very good. I had one of those and it went crazy when I tried to run it with the Passport as I show in the photos. I think the RX65 is a very good unit. I don't think they are identical inside but the power cord I believe is exactly the same.

^^^ That's a good deal^^^

I'd get it if I was looking for a good radar detector for a good price. I think the best price on Ebay is a bit higher plus shipping...

Makes sense, although it's quite possible that different manufacturers could use the same generic components, that power cord looks very "proprietary"...... I know it came with the Escort Passport.... Oh well, it's not to big a deal. The Passport is quite a good unit and if the Beltronics improves upon it, that can't be bad

passport all the way. on several of the trips I have taken, will be moving along and get passed by someone with their detector up high in the window. mine will be going off and a few thousand yards later, I see a hard braking by the car that just passed me. feels good

I took out the clock in my evo, bought the hardwired cord and installed a plate where the clock was and wired the harwired cord with the external alert pod there. looks great and gives you another place to notice the lights, especially with the growl of the motor drowning out the passport. my passport is mounted right over the vin number.
just my .02

$369.00 for a new v1 with / PoP2 from valentine. you have to call and they will put you on a waiting list for people who have returned there V1. they'll look it over and then send it out to you with full warranty.

I used both in my car at the same time and the Passport IMO is more effective.

What I understand is that he placed the remote control pod where his clock was. The detector itself is against the windshield. In his case he's located the passport near the corner of the windshield in the drivers side........
