Bay area dealers evo 8 ripoff

I just came back from the Mitsubishi dealer picking up a couple little parts for my 3000GT VR4 and inquired about the EVO because eventually maybe a year from now I wanted to possibly pick one up. They said they're barely recieving 1 or 2 at the most and they are going to go for $10k over sticker so probably $40k out the door after tax, license, registration. That is just utterly discusting. The car is badass and its a shame to see some greedy money hungry car dealers rape someone like that on a car that was "suppost" to be targeted at the younger generation. LOL. Charging that much money is sure a good way to turn someone away from considering it. I'd rather buy an evo 7 from evo imports if I'm gonna spend that much jeez. Sorry for the rant. Just a little angry with those guys at the mitsu dealer.

Hey, MattsGTO, nice to see another 3si'er on these boards... I'm sure in a while you'll notice, there's not as much bickering as there is on 3si, and this board is updated more frequently.

Hope you enjoy your stay...

Guys shop around! you should be looking for some small dealer way out of town. Where I live 5k over sticker, 500 miles away...MSRP. They are out there you just have to be willing to drive to get it (you really want one don't you). In case you were wondering I got the color I wanted and I called them and put the deposit down yesterday! not months ago

I am always rude to salesmen... Cause they try to act like you're their best friend and all they want is your hard earned money.. I told a bunch of salesmen (sharks) over at my local dealership that they are in for a rude awakening with this crap about 5k over MSRP... I told them to read this forum to see how EVERYONE is PISSED about that... I said that I would get an STI cause Subaru doesn't play games with their prices.. I would rather pay extra to get extra.. Not pay extra for free!! If you were to pay 5k over MSRP, that specific salesman could take 2 weeks off work for their commission... That's B/S!!! Blow me Mits for allowing your dealers to do that!!!

BTW, which dealership is this here in the Bay Area. That's crazy if you ask me.

Last monday, I spoke to a salesman down at Concord Mitsubishi and inquiring about the Evo. He stated that they will be getting 2 (silver and red) Evos and probably a total of 5 Evos throughout the year. He then told me that it's going to be $35k which to me a little steep. There are like 10 people in line and taking $3k refundable deposit but majority of those guys aren't serious enough to buy one and I'm guessing that the dealer can actually bump you up on the list if youre willing to pay the asking $35k payout. LoL

Anyway, prices should be down after a year just like other new cars that are out there.

Don't blame Mitsu for dealer price gouging. the MSRP is just that "suggested" price. The dealer can chare anything they want. Mitsu has no contorl over what the dealer does after they get the cars. Also, remember, dealers can ask any price they want, doesn't mean people will pay it. But there are always some who do, who need to be the first on the block to have the newest ****.

he must be talkin about the stevens creek in san jose. i went there too, and they told me the same thing. they arent really charging 10k over the msrp though...its more like 11k or 12k. 30k (is what they told me what msrp was) and they were gonna jack up 10k from there. capitol , also owned by the same guy is getting 10 of them and selling it for those prices. i saw them about a week ago and it seems like there is only one or two that have deposits if any.

Guys, remember that the dealerships/counter parts guy/salesman are the LAST people on earth to know anything about these cars etc.

So take anything anyone of them tells you and just forget about it... at the dealerships THEY may be all hyped up, but when push comes to shove I can't see all "that" many people dumb enough to pay way over MSRP!

Although that does happen... remember when the new VW bug came out? People were paying $2K and more over MSRP for about 6 months to a year when it came out.
